Artist Creates Stunning Sculptures Using Steel Wire Only

Artists are artists for a reason. They take something raw and turn it into expressive creations that delight the eye. We’ve seen graffiti artists in cities painting the walls of dilapidated buildings and transforming them into veritable works of art. We’ve seen artists taking simple things such as party balloons and turning them into awesome realistic sculptures of animals and insects. And the list goes on.

Well, now we are going to take a look at what an artist can create using only some pieces of steel wire. Meet Martin Debenham from Britain. For years the artist has been using this source material and his trusty welder to bend and shape the metal into animals, trees, flowers, people, or other awesome abstract-looking creations. This art form has been around for a while. The first person to come up with this form of expression was American sculptor Alexander Calder around 1920.

Most of Martin’s creations are meant to be displayed outdoors. The sculptures he makes seem to blend into the scenes. For instance, see his awesome sculpture of a mermaid. Placed delicately on a rock near a lily pond, the mermaid seems to be gazing dreamily over the calm water surface, blending perfectly in a harmonious and serene scene. His creations are awesome, so check them out!
