This Artist Struggled With Depression And Her Drawings Are Deep And Meaningful

Depression is no laughing matter, as this Deviant Art illustrator shows in her melancholic, sometimes heartbreaking drawings.

Alice de Ste Croix, also known by her Deviant Art avatar Destiny Blue has developed an online following after sharing her nostalgia-filled drawings with the artwork community. Her vividly-colored pictures speak of strong emotional traumas that develop from lost love, breakups, and fear of social judgments.

Depression is one of the main themes in DestinyBlue’s sketches, and it is often depicted through the watering eyes of an emotionally-scarred girl that fans have fondly named Blue.

The artist seems to reach out to other people who struggle with nostalgia, anxiety, and rejection. Although her drawings are mostly sad, a slight vibe of optimism is also present telling others that they are not alone.

Alice de Ste Croix has been posting these heart-rending pictures since 2004, and more recent drawings call for rebirth and a renewed trust in humanity. We can only hope that is true, and that Blue is feeling better, wherever she may be.
