The Most Eye-Catching Photographs Of 2017’s Total Solar Eclipse

On Monday, August 21, 2017, North America experienced a total solar eclipse for the first time in 99 years. A few photographers were lucky enough to have their fingers ready on the shutter buttons of their cameras, and they captured some of the most amazing images in history.

Some of these trigger-happy camera dwellers chose to capture multiple exposures of the moon’s entire path between our planet and the sun. Others amazed the world with pictures not of the sky, but of the eclipse’s psychedelic reflections on wood, water or the hoods of their cars. A few lucky ones even shot the event from the sky, while traveling by plane.

Scroll down to discover the true meaning of “timing is everything,” and revel in some of the most astonishing photographs ever taken of a solar eclipse.
