NY Artist Reimagines Our Favorite Childhood Cartoon Characters The Way She Sees Them

Have you ever seen a movie and thought to yourself “I would have done that differently?” Well, New York-based artist Elena Manetta surely did and proved it with several reinterpretations of famous cartoon characters.

From the Two Stupid Dogs to the Powerpuff Girls to Dino from the Flintstones, many children’s favorite characters from popular cartoons passed through Elena’s vivid imaginative filter. Most of them still resemble the original subjects, but they also bear a hint of the artist’s unique talent.

Manetta seems to have a knack for portraying human or animal characters with real-life anatomic features. It is for this reason that Courage the Cowardly Dog looks closer to a canine, and less of a pink bubble. Also, Ren from The Ren & Stimpy Show has a beefy chest and toned muscle mass, which is far from the original skinny Chihuahua.

Nostalgia fans may not take Elena’s reinterpretations so kindly, but others praise her intent to reimagine old art and add her personal touch to it.
