8. Remnants Of The Old War

It is not a big surprise that this bomb was found. During WW2 tens of thousands of sea mines were launched to sea, and many of them were never retrieved. Although shocking at first glance, it is not that uncommon for some of those sea mines to end up washing ashore on European lands.

9. A Few Still Remain

Even though more than 500 mines were damaged or sunk in the past 30 years, it’s estimated that roughly 13.000 mines were left unswept. At the time, the officials were unsure about these numbers, and operations to “clean the waters” were seen as “not worth the risk”. And so, many of those mines might still be at large somewhere.
