What do you do when a hurricane is about to hit your town and you need to choose between attending your last class and evacuating your dog? Which one do you pick first?

“Well, both of course,” would be the correct answer, and is just what Jessica Lewis had in mind when Hurricane Irma was galloping rapidly towards her hometown. She had to evacuate straight after her final class of the day and did not have where to leave her dog, Luna.

After much thinking and doubt, she bit her built up her courage and asked her professor if Luna could attend the class, too. While writing him a compelling letter and sending photos of her dog, Jessica hoped that he “would be a cool enough professor” and he would accept her plea. His response stunned her and everyone else.
