Proud Mom Packs Her Son Two Lunches For School Every Day After Finding Out He Feeds A Friend

Here is an awesome and uplifting true story. It is about Josette Duran, a loving mother that would prepare her son’s school lunch every morning before he went to school. One day she received an unusual request from her 11-year-old son, Dylan.

That day the little boy asked his mom to pack him a double-sized lunch. She didn’t think much of it that morning. She simply thought her son was developing an appetite, being at an age when kids grow and need more energy. It felt natural and alright, and nothing looked out of the ordinary.

A few days later, she was curious if the two lunches are working out for him, and so she asked him. To this Dylan gave a surprising answer that opened her eyes to the real situation at hand.

“It’s for this boy. He only eats a fruit cup for lunch,” was the answer her son gave her, and which she shared in an inspiring Facebook post. He would go on to ask his mother: “Can you make him lunch too? I don’t think he has lunch money.”

So it seems that Dylan wasn’t asking for two lunch servings for himself. Out of compassion, he was actually trying to help a less fortunate schoolmate.

The other boy’s mother had lost her job, and they were having some hard times. He could not afford lunch money. Hearing the story, Josette related to the other boy’s mom. Not long ago she had hit rock bottom as well. She, too, had lost her job at some point.

For a while, she had to live and sleep in her car with her boy, and would even have to wash her son in public bathrooms. She managed to overcome these hard times when she landed a job, and bounced back.

Josette’s hard life experience made her want to always lend a hand to those in need, whenever she could. Her son’s compassion made her really proud. So now, she made it a routine, and every morning she would lovingly prepare two lunches for her son (sandwiches, fruit, chips, and drinks)!

Later on, the other boy’s mother called Josette to express her gratitude. She offered to pay back for the lunches, but Josette politely refused.

In a Facebook video, she said “I don’t think I did anything special. I just think I did what a human being is supposed to do.”

The story picked up on social media back when it happened. At that time Josette Duran was also working as the girl’s volleyball team coach. When they all heard about the news, the students all decided to pitch in and repay her kind gesture the way they could. They all raised $400 and wanted to cover the cost of those extra lunches she packed.

However, instead of keeping the money, Josette donated it to the cafeteria at her son’s school, to give out free lunches to the kids who could not afford them.

This inspiring and uplifting story became viral back in 2016 when it got a lot of coverage on various social media sites. The message, however, is so uplifting and valuable, that it makes it forever relevant.
