Real-Life Pikachu Found! This Rare Furball Was Rescued By Australian Vet Clinic

Remember when you begged your parents for a Pikachu as a birthday present when you were a kid? And how heartbroken you were when you found out Pikachu wasn’t real? Well, you’re in luck because there actually is a rare golden possum that’s pretty much the closest thing to Pikachu. But don’t get too excited, because this type of possum is super rare, so you’ll be lucky if you ever see one.

Just a while back, a yellow-furred possum was introduced at the Boronia Veterinary Clinic and Animal Hospital in Australia and people couldn’t help but notice its resemblance to Pikachu. The possum was found on the ground after falling off its mother and was brought to the clinic for care.

According to Dr. Stephen Reinisch, the possum was a bit shy at first but was in good health. The clinic will take care of the possum before sending her off to carers. And just to clear things up, this yellow marsupial is a rare variety of the common brushtail possum with golden fur caused by a melanin mutation.

Though extremely rare, he’s not a completely unique occurrence and other people on the internet have posted their little Pikachus too! We tried to “catch them all” in this cute collection of real-life pokemon!
