This species roamed the lands in Asia. Historical writing show that they had been extensively used during the Roman Empire times, in many gladiator arenas. Their numbers slowly declined and despite efforts of repopulation in the 20th century they faded away completely.

These flightless birds were native too Eastern Canada, Greenland, Iceland and Norway. They look a lot like penguins, but have no actual relation. The population of these birds declined heavily after the “Little Ice Age” – a very cold period that lasted between the 13th century and 19th century. They faced their demise in the 19th century after extensive hunting and because of already low population numbers caused by the Little Ice Age.
